Sports / Deep Tissue Massage Therapy is a western approach to physical therapy, which involves specific manipulation to the soft tissue of the body. The aim is to release tension, aches and pains in the musculoskelatal system as well as to address underlying muscular imbalances and skeletal dysfunctions, which could be caused by active sport, passive sedentary lifestyle or emotional stresses.
Shiatsu is a Japanese form of physical therapy or energy work, often described as "acupressure massage" or "acupuncture without needles". Pressure, holding and stretching techniques are applied whilst the receiver remains fully dressed. The aim is to release energy blockages to promote the free flow of energy, which kick starts a self-healing response at physical and emotional levels.
Yoga combined with Pilates can be incorporated into the physical treatment plan or be taken as regular holistic workout classes. The aim is to restore natural flexibility by releasing tight, tense muscles and tone the body by strengthening neglected core stabilizing muscles. Yoga is an excellent way to regain muscular, postural and mental balance, improving wellbeing and vitality.
