Bach Original Flower Remedies

ImageBach Original Flower Remedies are completely safe and natural and can be used by all the family. They can even be used to help plants and animals because they act in such a gentle way. If you select an inappropriate remedy it will simply not have an effect.

Dr Edward Bach's philosophy was simple and profound, based on the innate perfection and spiritual nature of human beings. He believed that health and happiness results from being in harmony with our own nature and doing the work for which we are individually suited.

"It means doing the house keeping, painting, farming, acting or serving our fellow men in shops or houses and this work whatever it may be, if we love it above all else, is the work we have to do in this world, and in which alone we can be our true selves." - Dr Bach

He thought that disease is entirely the result of a conflict between our spiritual and mortal selves.

"Disease is the re-action to interferences. This is temporary failure and unhappiness and this occurs when we allow others to interfere with our purpose in life and implant in our minds doubt, or fear, or indifference." - Dr Bach

In the late 1920's he had a revelation whilst observing his friends and acquaintances. Similarly to Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of Homeopathy, he recognised the importance of personality in disease. He concluded that each personality type would react to illness in a particular way. He began his research with two plants, Mimulus and Impatiens and prepared these as he had done with his earlier Seven Bach Nosodes, which were oral vaccines based on intestinal bacteria (combining homeopathic principles and conventional medicine). He prescribed them according to his patient's personality, with immediate and successful results.

After leaving London in 1930, Dr Bach explored the countryside in search of the remedies for several years. In 1934 he decided to settle down and create a centre for his work, and chose Mount Vernon, a small cottage in Sotwell, Oxfordshire.

Dr Bach divided the 38 remedies into seven groups representing fundamental conflicts which prevent us from being true to ourselves:

Fear
Uncertainty
Insufficient interest in present circumstances
Loneliness
Over sensitivity to influences and ideas
Despondency or despair
Overcare for the welfare of others

He spent the last years of his life at Mount Vernon and it was here that he completed his research. Today Mount Vernon is better known as The Bach Centre, and the present custodians continue to prepare the mother tinctures (first process in making the remedies), often using the same locations that Dr Bach identified in the 1930's.

Recognising exactly how you feel is the key to choosing the most appropriate Bach Original Flower Remedy. Try to pinpoint how you are feeling in the moment and then match your mood with the appropriate remedy.

The time taken for the remedies to have effect varies depending on the individual and their circumstances. If you are experiencing unfamiliar feelings and new emotions you may observe immediate results after taking 2 drops. However, if the emotions are deep seated it may take some days or weeks to make a difference. The remedies action is gentle and the change that takes place happens at a natural and gradual pace to which people easily adjust. Others may observe the changes before you realise them. If there is no improvement after a couple of weeks, reconsider your choice of remedies.
